Pilgrimage to the Sacred Land of Dhamma
In 2004, Mr. Goenka visited his motherland, the golden land of Myanmar. Some 400 Vipassana meditators had the good fortune to join Mr. Goenka on the pilgrimage to this sacred land, which preserved the priceless teachings of the Buddha in its pristine purity, after it was lost in India, the country of its origin. The pilgrims were from 33 countries and from diverse religious backgrounds: Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, Jewish, Christian, Parsi and Jain.
In this tour, Mr. Goenka visited Shwedagon Pagoda, Vipassana Centers in Myanmar and International Meditation Center, the meditation center established by Sayagyi U Ba Khin. He delivered discourses to the Vipassana meditators, monks, novices and lay people and motivated them by sharing inspirational stories of the Buddha and his own experience on the path of Vipassana meditation.
This book contains glimpses of his tour, article on the significance of the Pagoda and several other articles by Mr. Goenka. This inspirational information is presented with the beautiful photographs of rich Dhammic heritage of Myanmar, which throw light on the legacy of the Buddha that is preserved in this sacred land.
This book is ideal for Vipassana meditator as well as non-meditators.
